The Bournemouth University Sports Scholarships is available to high-level sporting athletes coming to study at either undergraduate or postgraduate level at BU.
The scholarship is available to provide you with the funding you need to grow your sporting abilities and take them to the next level. Applicants can apply for up to £5,000 of funding and put this money towards coaching, equipment, competition entry fees, travel expenses, or/or support services.
Applicants must display excellence in their chosen sport, be part of a Regional, National, and/or International squad and compete at that level. However, athletes receiving a scholarship will ideally represent Bournemouth University in the BUCS program (League and Individual), as well as themselves and/or their club at regional, national, or international levels.
Individual athletes will also need to be competitive with top performers within the BUCS program. Moreover, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will need to meet with the Sports Performance Manager to assess how the funds will help you throughout the year, commit to attending 75% of training sessions, and represent the university in sporting competitions were possible to raise the profile of SportBU’s activities and to be featured in marketing materials.
As part of your application for a Bournemouth University Sports Scholarships, you will have to attend our trial process and be evaluated by our coach.
You must make sure your application is supported by a reference from a High-Performance Coach or National Governing Body coach/ If you are applying for a sport that sits outside our performance BUCS program, you will need to confirm that two references are sent with your application.

The recipients will get up to Bournemouth University Sports Scholarships of funding towards equipment, travel expenses, coaching, competition entry fees, and support services.

- Applicants should be high-performing sportspeople.
- The candidates should have the urge to develop in the sporting arena and academically.
- The applicants should also apply for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Bournemouth University.
- The candidates applying for the Bournemouth University Sports Scholarships should have excellence in their chosen sport.
- The applicants are expected to be a part of the Regional, National, or International squad and should compete at that level.
- The candidates need to attend the trial process and be evaluated by the coach as part of the Bournemouth University Sports Scholarships application.
- Applications should be supported by a High-Performance Coach or National Governing Body coach.
- Each candidate should send two references if their chosen sport is outside the BUCS program.
