A recent study has revealed that many Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (BO7) players are choosing not to buy Battlefield 6 (BF6). Fans eagerly awaiting BO7 are overwhelmingly avoiding the competitor shooter. Interestingly, the study also showed that Battlefield 6 players are behaving differently, with many planning to purchase BO7 as well.

Over the past few months, competition between Call of Duty BO7 and Battlefield 6 has intensified. In October, PlayStation supported the EA shooter with a global marketing campaign for the PS6. Activision countered by making Call of Duty Black Ops 6 free-to-play during BF6’s launch period.

According to marketing research firm Circana, many Call of Duty fans remain loyal to the franchise. Gaming analyst Mat Piscatella shared the findings on BlueSky, noting that only 24% of BO7 players plan to purchase Battlefield 6.

BO7 purchase intenders: 63% male, 32% aged 18–34, 47% play on PC, 24% intend to buy Battlefield 6 as well.

On the other hand, over half of Battlefield 6 players surveyed said they also plan to purchase Call of Duty BO7 when it launches on November 14, 2025.

BF6 purchase intenders: 79% male, 47% aged 18–34, 55% play on PC, 56% intend to buy Black Ops 7.

With over half of BF6 players intending to also purchase BO7, Call of Duty could see massive sales at launch, benefiting from both its loyal player base and cross-interest from Battlefield fans.

By contrast, only a small fraction of BO7 fans are planning to try BF6, which could indicate that Call of Duty may maintain a stronger console presence while Battlefield’s PC sales dominate.

Adding to the competition, Battlefield 6 has already sold over 6.5 million copies at launch, generating more than $350 million in revenue within just four days, according to Alinea Analytics. Remarkably, 65% of BF6 sales were on Steam, aligning with Circana’s research showing 56% of BF6 players on PC. This suggests that BO7 could see higher sales on consoles, making the upcoming launch particularly interesting for console gamers.

The question remains: will Call of Duty’s console-heavy audience outperform Battlefield’s PC-focused players? Only time will tell which shooter comes out on top.
